Del Posto is honored to host Maurizia di Napoli Rampolla, owner of Castello dei Rampolla, for a retrospective of one of Italy’s seminal wines :“D’Alceo.”
Castello di Rampolla has a long and storied history dating to the early 1700s. Nestled in the rolling hills of the bucolic village of Panzano in the heart of Chianti Classico, Castello di Rampolla is one of the region’s most important estates. The winery is the dream of Maurizia’s father, Alceo, who in the mid-1960s decided to resurrect Castello di Rampolla and make it one of Italy’s greatest wine estates. Inspired by the Tenuta San Guido’s historic wine “Sassicaia,” Alceo worked with famed Italian winemaker Giacomo Tachis (Sassicaia, Tignanello & Solaia) to create Castello di Rampolla’s Bordeaux-inspired wine. In 1996, Alceo’s dream was realized by his children and the wine was dedicated to him.
“D’Alceo,” a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon & Petite Verdot, is one of the most sought-after wines from Italy. Its depth, beauty, power & elegance are unrivaled. To honor 20 years of “D’Alceo,” Maurizia has opened her cellar for a singular event to enable us to showcase this beautiful wine alongside a class Tuscan menu by Del Posto’s Executive Chef Melissa Rodriguez.
